The Omega C has been designed
to meet a broad range of applications in surgical and interventional imaging.
Its advanced design throughout the imaging process, from generator to
monitor, ensures top-quality imaging in all applications. The Omega C
combines extremely accurate, reliable and wide movements with ease and
lightness of operation, thanks to its innovative mechanical design and
construction.
The Omega C is a surgical c-arm that is used mainly in operating theatres
for aiding in various surgical operations where real-time x-ray images are
needed. X-rays are used to "see through" the patient and the resulting
image is displayed on a TV-monitor.
An example of an application
is repositioning of bone fracture: The c-arm is used to verify the correct
positioning of the bones and as an aid in positioning the nails and screws
that are used to hold the bone in place. Another example is blood vessel
dilatation, where the veins are imaged using contrast media and stenosis
(places with poor blood flow) are then widened using a balloon catheter.
The latter example requires quite sophisticated image processing capabilities
from the unit, while the surgeon of the first example needs just a real
time x-ray image of the patient.
The product comprises four
different versions targeted to the needs of the specific application. The
main differences between the versions are in the image processing
capabilities, such as the amount of image memory and the resolution of the
imaging system.
